Text, Timeline

From Friday, September 6, 2024 to Saturday, September 7, 2024 September 6, 2024 September 7, 2024 Hotel Lucine

Frank Billingsley is Houston’s longest-serving TV weatherman, with a career spanning 42 years. He joined the KPRC 2 team as chief meteorologist in 1995 and has served the news station faithfully up until his recent retirement. Billingsley’s legendary career and genuine connection with his viewers throughout the years will be honored and celebrated by members of the Galveston and Houston communities at this standout event at Hotel Lucine.

Hotel Lucine will host a weekend of events on Sept. 6 and 7 to bid farewell to Frank Billingsley – one of Houston’s most beloved weathermen, who announced his retirement last month. The weekend will kick off with a cocktail reception from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday on The Rooftop at Hotel Lucine, featuring live music from Billingsley’s favorite Galveston band, The Line Up. The evening will feature a special cocktail menu curated by Billingsley, music under the stars and a shoreline breeze off of the Gulf of Mexico. This celebration is open to the public, and no RSVP is needed.

The festivities continue with an End of Summer Pool Party from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, sponsored by Vacation® Sunscreen and Socorro Tequila. Enjoy the chance to swim, dance and relax poolside while enjoying music from a local DJ. Guests will also receive passed sunscreen “shots” from Vacation® brand ambassadors and tastings of Socorro Tequila. Following the day of sun, guests are welcome to head to The Rooftop beginning at 7 p.m. for Hotel Lucine’s final installment of their Sunset and Sounds series, featuring live music from Houston’s Kam Franklin. Hotel Lucine’s End of Summer Pool Party and Sunset & Sounds are open to the public, and no RSVP is required, though VIP Access to Sunset and Sounds can be purchased here
